My lab studies cellular stress responses in Shewanella oneidensis, a facultative bacterium that can use transition metals as the terminal electron acceptor during anaerobic respiration. Our focus is on understanding the genes and regulatory mechanisms that allow Shewanella to survive oxidative and long term starvation stress.
